  • UI/UX writing: I review designs in Figma and create/edit UI text for new applications and features. I also create tooltips and help text within the application to help users quickly find the information they need to meet their goals.

  • Information architecture: I create and maintain the information for the Crisp knowledge base and I use methods such as card sorting and user research to make sure the initial architecture and the organization of new sections meet user needs.

  • Project management: I plan technical writing projects, create project requirements, and measure the success of initiatives.

Tasks:

  • Help Pages—Bloomberg technical writers maintain help pages for the thousands of screens on Bloomberg’s main software product, the Bloomberg Terminal®. I served as the sole technical writer for several enterprise software products, chiefly in the equities space. I created and maintained a large number of documentation sets that help clients perform complex trading workflows and financial analysis with ease.

  • Product Tours: I created and maintained several types of product tours that promote new features, advertise webinars, or provide an overview to help users get started using a new screen.

  • UI/UX Writing: As part of the UX department, I worked closely with UX designers and UX consistency representatives to ensure the words in Bloomberg software cultivate the best user experience. I provide guidance on things like labels, buttons, error messages, and tooltips.

  • Tech Liaison (Assistant): I served as an intermediary between the software engineers that build the documentation tools and the documentation team/leadership. I serve as a technical expert to answer questions from writers about the tools and advise engineers on leadership priorities and writer perspective during scrum activities, such as sprint planning.
