Project Overview
IFixIt's mission is to provide high-quality repair guides to empower users to repair or replace, rather than throw away, their electronic devices to reduce e-waste and create a more sustainable world. The goal of this project was to further the IFixIt mission by creating an LCD screen replacement guide for a Canon PowerShot camera. For this project, I worked as part of a team to create multiple guides for IFixIt.com. Each teammate took individual responsibility for one of the guides; the LCD screen guide discussed below is my individually created guide.

The Process
Planning & Creation
To better understand our users, my teammate and I worked together to create user personas to steer us through the creation of our guide. I then taught myself how to replace the LCD screen, staged and photographed the images, wrote the steps, and formatted the guide on the IFixIt wiki.
Usability Testing
To make sure our guides would meet the needs of users, my teammate and I created a usability testing plan for our guides and troubleshooting pages. I implemented our testing plan with three participants, formulated conclusions based on the test results, and used these findings to guide our revisions.
Project Management
My project partner and I created a Trello board to help us manage our project. We included all major due dates and project milestones and assigned ourselves tasks to keep us on track.
The Product
In the following guide steps, I employed minimalist writing practices and specific language to make the guide easy to use. I also staged the images to speak for themselves to make the guide convenient for non-native English speakers to use.
